If you have been following my recent tracking of upcoming Suunto sports watches, you probably know that the upcoming Suunto Race 3 and Race 3S have been popping up across multiple global databases over the past few weeks.
Well, the puzzle pieces are coming together even faster now. Today, I’ve just spotted the Suunto Race 3S making its official appearance in the United States FCC database under the model number OW265.
What Do We Know From the FCC Listing?
As usual with early regulatory filings, the paperwork doesn’t give away all the design secrets just yet. If you head over to the FCC docs, you will notice that Suunto has requested short-term confidentiality. Because of this, the FCC hasn’t published any live pictures or external photos of the watch yet.
However, the certification documents do confirm a few core technical details:
-
Grantee Code: RYP (belonging to Suunto Oy)
-
Product Code / Model: OW265
-
Equipment Class: Outdoor Watch
-
Connectivity: Standard low-power communication and wireless specs typical of modern sports smartwatches.
The Global Rollout is Imminent
This fresh FCC appearance lines up perfectly with everything we’ve been tracking lately. As I reported previously, both the Race 3 and Race 3S have already been clearing regulatory hurdles in regions like the UAE (TDRA), Indonesia, and Chinese databases.
Seeing the device land at the FCC usually means that a manufacturer is gearing up closely for a proper commercial release in Western markets. The “S” variant traditionally points to a slightly more compact size compared to the standard base edition, making it a favorite for athletes with smaller wrists who still want full-blown outdoor mapping and robust training metrics.
With regulatory approvals piling up day after day, we shouldn’t have to wait too much longer before Suunto officially takes the wraps off the Race 3 series and hopefully, before long, we will get our very first real look at the physical design through leaked images or an official announcement.
Stay tuned here as I continue digging into the latest database filings for any new updates!
