Suunto fans and endurance athletes might soon get an upgrade to their training gear. Fresh regulatory documents have just leaked, revealing an unreleased device from Suunto under the model number HR264.
While the Finnish brand has kept quiet about its upcoming hardware roadmap, these certification photos give us a very clear look at what is coming down the pipeline.
What the Leak Shows

The newly uncovered filing, processed by testing authorities, showcases a compact and minimalist piece of hardware. Here is a breakdown of what the pictures reveal:
-
The Form Factor: The device is a small, rectangular module with smooth rounded corners and integrated strap loops on either side. Based on the engineering scale in the photos, the main body is quite tiny—measuring roughly 3.5 to 4 cm, designed to sit flat and unobtrusive against the body.
-
Branding and Layout: The front face features the classic SUUNTO wordmark centered on a dark panel. Flipping the unit over reveals the rear sensor housing, regulatory text noting it was “Designed in Finland” and “Made in China,” plus placeholders for FCC and IC certification numbers.
-
Sensors and Ports: The back of the module features an optical sensor arrangement surrounded by a contact ring and alignment pins, alongside a unique row of four small port openings near the top edge.
-
Straps and Accessories: The documentation also shows multiple adjustable strap options in both gray and black elastic fabrics, complete with metal slider buckles. Additionally, a custom USB charging cable with a magnetic or snap-on puck matching the shape of the module is included in the package.
Could it be a screenless band?
Looking at the design in the new filings, I think this new device might be a screenless fitness band. Unlike a big smartwatch with a bright display, a simple screenless band would focus entirely on tracking your heart rate and health data quietly in the background. This would make it lightweight, comfortable for long workouts, and help save a lot of battery life.
What Does It Mean?
Given the “HR” model prefix and the design features, such as the strap loops and optical/electrical contact layout, this points directly to a new heart rate monitoring product, such as an updated chest strap sensor module or a screenless band.
Suunto’s current generation of heart rate gear is heavily relied upon by runners and cyclists for precise data and advanced training metrics like R-R intervals. Seeing a fresh hardware revision pop up in global databases suggests an official announcement might not be too far away.
